Latin & Computer Science

One of the curiosities of my academic life is the fact that I studied latin in high-school. In Switzerland, the exam at the end of high school is called maturité and is specialized – the French have a similar exam called baccalauréat. Of course, many people were wondering if latin was a good preparation for computer science studies. A report by researchers from ETHZ about student results in high-school and in the Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology, has an amusing conclusion: people who studied latin or greek in high school fare quite well.
