Homekit Icon – A house outline with a Wifi wave inside

While playing around with the MyStrom power switches, I discovered an interesting project: . This project aims to be a bridge between various internet connected devices and Apple’s Homekit system.

The system is quite modular and there is a plugin which handles MyStrom. I managed to make it run on my laptop, and to bridge my two smart switches, this means I can control them using a Homekit app, or simply Siri. The main issue with this approach is that the laptop has to be running to do the bridging. So the next step is to run that bridge on a device which is turned on all the time, probably my NAS. I found instructions on install Homekit on a Synology NAS, and more instructions to install chroot on a Synology NAS.
